A DESIGN STUDY EXPLORING A LOW-COST BUILD APPROACH FOR THE CUSTOM E-BIKE MARKET.
Featured on THE VINTAGENT.
Precursor to the Cosomoto Strret Bike Concept
This was a conceptual study [from 2015] exploring applications for a [then trending] MIT Lab self-assembly/ flat-pack material. How might these origami-like materials, equipped with muscle memory, enable DIY bikers to more directly (and economically) customize exterior cladding? How might this tech evolve custom culture?
The body is comprised of flat-pack materials, stamped or cut from one sheet.
Bike builders fabricate/select from these custom body templates and adhere them to a modular electric motorcycle platform.
BODY TEMPLATES ‘STAMPED’ FROM ONE SHEET OF MATERIAL, THEN DRAPED ON MODULAR ELECTRIC PLATFORM.
